Investigative Interviewing and much more!
I will teach you how to obtain relevant information that is complete and reliable using scientifically-supported principles.

I believe that people learn best in a safe environment where they are encouraged to try new processes without fear of failing. My sessions motivate people to expand their horizon while having fun learning about the science supporting professional interviewing. Ultimately, they will gain competence and confidence in the practical application.
I emphasize that perfection is not the expectation of an investigative interview and that the interview goals are rarely achieved by following a linear format. As every interview has a different context and involves different people, it would be improper to teach the process as anything other than a framework of available principles that are not restricted to the phases within which they reside. The best interviewers often resemble an improv actor as opposed to one who has memorized a script. Your learning journey will involve the following phases:
1. learning the scientific principles that are the foundation of efficient, effective, ethical and evolving interviews
2. watching videos of the investigative interview process
3. doing a realistic investigative interview (this phase will depend on the wishes of the client)
4. teaching the class by evaluating the scenario interviews
I honed my interview skills during 26 years with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. By accepting my mistakes as an opportunity to learn, I progressed to investigating major crimes, eventually specializing in interviewing children and adults. After being lucky enough to become part of an elite interview unit that served a practical and advisory role, I chose to run the RCMP's Interview Training Program for the Pacific Region. After retirement in 2017, I continued interviewing as a private investigator, with a focus on workplace matters. I continue to enjoy every teaching opportunity, and consult on investigative issues as well as psychological safety in the workplace.
